SERBIAN AND UKRAINIAN EMPLOYEES

EMPLOYMENT

  In 2016, employment in Hungary for employees of EU member states bordering Hungary was significantly simplified. Serbian  Ukrainians can travel to Hungary visa-free for 90 days since June 1, 2017.

     According to the order of the Minister of National Economy  of July 1, no need them to obtain a work permit.   If the employee work in one of the job which are "in demand"  for less than 90 days he does not need work permit. After the parties have signed the work contract they just have to notify the Labor Office. The notification has not a  compulsory form. The notification must contain the following information:

 - the number of employees,
- the citizenship of the employees,
- the form of the employment relationship,
- in the case of a relative, indicating the legal status of the relative, 

     

    However, this relief only applies to certain jobs. It primarily applies to construction industry, hospitality industry, healthcare, commerce, computer technology driver and skilled and unskilled physical jobs where there is a significant number of unfilled jobs in Hungary today. According to our experience, 80-90 percent of workers in Ukraine and Serbia want to be employed in these privileged positions. The detailed list of professions is contained in the 28th issue of the "Official Notice" of 2017. Before concluding an employment contract, both employees and employers are advised to study and consult the current regulation, because any mistake could cause a serious legal consequences!

TO WORK LONGER THAN 90 DAYS ​

  A workpermit is still required if the employee works over 90 day. (A workpermit also required for any short-term work in non-beneficiary positions). However, obtaining these permits could be applied by an easier procces. The Ukrainian and Serbian applicants do not have to travel home to submit their permit application. Work permit applications could be submitted in Hungary! Permits are usually assessed within two months. Therefore, it is advisable to submit the workpermit applications as soon as possible.
